CARSON CITY, NEV. –  The Supermodified Racing Association’s regular competitors of the 2009 season are making their way to Las Vegas and Salt Lake City this week for a two-race venture in the summer heat.
Drivers and teams will make their way from Washington, Idaho, Nevada, California and Massachusetts to take on two tracks of the three-eighth mile length, which produce higher speeds and exciting racing venues for the thousands of race fans expected to make the show.

The SMRA Supermodifieds, and Madera Speedway 360 Supermodifieds rolled into Madera Speedway on Saturday for the third of six Super Saturday Events at the Central California Race Track. When it was all over, Jim Birges and David Tuey had become repeat winners for 2009.

Kenny Kinchen(5) was fastest in 360 Supermodified time trials with a lap of 13.531. Lance Jackson(18) at 13.593, Lance Tatro(72) at 13.627, David Tuey(6) at 13.681, and Kyle Vanderpool at 13.779 rounded out the top five.

The ground pounding SMRA Supermodifieds were paced by A.J. Russell(7) at 12.646, Jeff Russell(85) at 12.681, Bobby Dalton(36) at 12.748, Troy Regier(98) at 12.836, and Jim Birges(89) at 12.897.
