Champion’s Month kicks off Monday, 3/30 on ‘Wailing with Wing Side Up’ when Bobby G. goes ‘Inside the Helmet’ with the “Iron Champion” Troy Regier.
Also joining the broadcast will be Kenny Shepherd to discuss the upcoming SMRA opener at Madera Speedway.

The Supermodified Racing Association opens the 2009 racing season at Madera Speedway in Central California on April 4. Madera has scheduled six Super Saturday Shows which will include multiple open wheel classes along with the winged roadsters of the SMRA. The April contest will combine the SMRA Supermodifieds with Madera Speedway’s own 360 Super Modifieds in a full racing program including time trials, heat races, trophy dashes and a fifty lap feature.
The SMRA field for the April show will be headed up by 2008 champion Troy Regier in the S&S Motorsports number 98 Silsby Chevy. He’ll be facing some stiff competition from several veteran competitors. Multi feature winner A.J. Russell returns to the RPM Motorsports number 7 KPC Chevy after a year on the sidelines while pursuing a NASCAR career in North Carolina. Russell intends to run the entire SMRA schedule and challenge for the point championship. Also scheduled to appear at Madera is Multi time winner Jim Birges. Jim will start the season in the Ron Burger owned number 89 X-Car. Birges’ new car, a Birges/Belfiore redesign of the X-Car, will make its debut at the Vukovich Memorial in May. Birges is also planning on a full season in the new number 32 Bel-X creation. Young Bobby Dalton, last year’s third place points winner will have his number 36 Hyder revved up and ready to challenge for the win in this first program of the year.
